About us

About us

Lacrosse Legal & Financial Translations is an added-value language service provider based in Warsaw Poland, offering a quality-focussed offer and superior customer service, all supported by advanced language technology solutions which help ensure quality, accuracy and data security.  With over 15 years' experience on the language services market and with over 300 satisfied clients, Lacrosse has built a reputation as a premier provider of language services to customers across a wide range or industries and sectors.

History

Lacrosse was established as a one-man business in 1997 in Warsaw by Lawrence Fahrenholz, a British citizen. Lawrence’s objective then was to offer  higher quality language services than those available locally at the time. With a focus on law firms and a personal approach, he quickly developed relationships with the legal community in Warsaw, gaining a reputation as a trusted, efficient and valuable resource for his clients. As law firms merged and combined forces across Europe in the late 90s and as the volume of cross-border business grew, so did the demand for accurate, high quality translation and language support services.  As a result Lacrosse was able to broaden its service offer, attract new clients and increasingly provide comprehensive language support covering an ever-greater number of languages, going beyond the traditional law firm base to encompass financial institutions, audit firms and large corporations among its client base.

The philosophy at Lacrosse is a simple one, but remains at the forefront of its business:

  • deliver a high quality product,
  • listen to clients and respond to their changing needs,
  • provide exceptional customer service,
  • take advantage of language and other technologies to improve quality, drive efficiencies and support business processes.

Lacrosse remains a trusted partner for language services to many of the world’s leading law firms and corporations, and in 2011 alone translated over 10 million words in 24 language pairs.

Today Lacrosse Legal & Financial Translations has a full-time staff of 16 based at its headquarters in Warsaw, which includes five translation project managers, a sales and customer relationship management unit, IT and finance functions, and a dedicated in-house translation team covering its core language pairs. In addition Lacrosse is able to draw upon a global network of over 2000 translators and interpreters, enabling it to deliver translation and interpreting services in virtually any language combination.

Founding partners

Lawrence Fahrenholz has lived and worked in Poland since 1994. He has worked in the language services industry for almost twenty years, and has been involved in managing Lacrosse since it was founded in 1997.  Lawrence comes from St. Andrews in Scotland and graduated with a first in History from Glasgow University. He also holds an M.Phil Master’s degree in International Relations from Cambridge University.

Tom Fahrenholz graduated in Russian from Manchester University in 1984. He then moved to Vienna, where he worked as a translator and media analyst for the U.S. government.  He later joined the Frankfurt branch of a leading Wall Street law firm, translating legal and financial texts from German into English.

Community initiatives /Corporate Social Responsibility

Lacrosse is proud to be involved with community initiatives. Since 2009 Lacrosse has been providing translation support to the Children’s Memorial Health Institute near Warsaw.

The Institute is one of the largest pediatric hospitals in Poland, and is at the same time a research & development institute for modern pediatrics. The idea of a Memorial Hospital commemorating the heroism and sacrifice of children throughout Polish history was propagated by the writer Ewa Szelburg-Zarembina.

For many years now the Institute has been serving the health of children in Poland. We hope that in supporting it, we will be improving its communications and cooperation with other pediatric institutes around the world, and will thereby be helping sick children get better. CZD Website link

Between 2006 and 2009 Lacrosse was active member of the Foundation for Corporate Social Responsibility. Through its "Hot Meal A Day" programme, the FCSR was involved in feeding 56,000 meals each month to 2,775 needy Polish children in 16 schools in Northwest Poland, one of the country’s poorest regions.
