Tip 47.  Common translation problem: wypowiedzenie

Which translation is NOT CORRECT?

"Niniejsza umowa może być rozwiązana z trzymiesięcznym wypowiedzeniem w formie pisemnej."

A. This contract may be solved by three months' termination notice in written form.

Correct answer!

Comment:

Option A: Here 'solved' is a mistranslation of 'rozwiązana'. 'Notice in written form' is simply a wordy way of saying "notice in writing" or "written notice".

Option B: Clear and simple.

Option C: Clear and simple, and in the active voice. In a single sentence, using the active voice doesn't make a very big difference to the clarity of your work. However, if you use the active more than the passive, you will be giving your reader an easier job!
